I don't know about you but I'm sick of searching for information at work. Countless hours searching, conflicting and outdated information, dead links and incomprehensible documents swallow up our day.

 

I believe there's a better way to manage our internal information.

My mission is to empower professionals with the tools & knowledge to confidently organise & present their ideas.

People & Process > Technology

I've spent over 15 years working on technology projects and I can tell you, chasing the newest tech does not solve your information problems. Only when you focus on the people accessing and using your information do we create information that works.

That’s why my approach focuses on people. I use a combination of UX, communication, design and psychology principles to transform clients’ information so it's easy to find, understand & use.

About me

As a nine year old I was asked what my favourite school subjects were. My answer: maths and art. This response was met with confusion but I knew my ability to think both analytically and creatively was an asset.

Three decades later I am still using both sides of my brain*. Fusing my education in science, psychology and design with over a decade working in change, communication, training and engagement to create effective messages that people want to read.

*the idea of creative-right and analytical-left brain has totally been debunked but you get what I mean

DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?

An urgent request to present at the board meeting in 30 mins drops into your inbox. No worries, Tim recently wrote a report on your project findings you can pull from. You search your team's wiki page but can't find it. You message Tim - he filed it in the shared drive. Detecting the stress in your voice he offers to email it to you. Several minutes later it comes through. You open it but it’s a wall of text, you can't find the information you're after.

 

Just as you are about to go back to Tim, a message from Beth pops up. She heard you're speaking to the board and has a presentation that would be helpful - it covers exactly what you need. You're running out of time so are thankful you no longer need to translate Tim's report. But when you open the presentation it's not in the right template. Where are those templates again? Never mind, there isn’t time to fix it. You head into the meeting frustrated and stressed...

 

Later that day you receive an email from sales requesting the new marketing material. That's the 4th request this week. Your team spent hours last month updating the SharePoint site with everything your stakeholders need. Why isn't anyone using it? Following up requests is wasting so much time. Plus, more worryingly, half of the sales team are using outdated material.

There is no cookie-cutter formula for great information, it all depends on who it's for. That's why my main focus is on your users. Understanding what they need and how they access, create and use information drives my design decisions. Ensuring the solution meets their needs.

Sorry, there’s no magic tool that will solve your information problems. On the plus side, everything you need is likely already available to you. That's why I work with the tools you currently have (cos who wants to learn yet another tool?) and focus on optimising how you organise and structure information with those tools.
